Lawrence Truong

Chief Executive Officer

Lawrence (CFA, MBA, CAMS) has over 25 years of experience in financial markets across front and middle office roles with financial institutions, hedge funds, and large corporations. In the capital markets, he traded billions of dollars in FX, fixed income, equities and derivatives instruments. Lawrence developed his knowledge and experience in regulatory compliance during his tenures with TD Bank and the Enforcement and Market Regulation teams at the Alberta Securities Commission. As CCO for digital asset firms Tetra Trust and Coinsquare, he led the successful regulatory licensing efforts for both firms and was responsible for developing and implementing end-to-end compliance programs. As CEO for Binance Canada, Lawrence was responsible for governance, market strategy, stakeholder and regulatory relationships.

Alvin Leung

Chief Commercial Officer

Alvin (MBA, MEM, BSc-CS) is an accomplished commercial leader with over 20 years of experience across various leadership roles (in marketing, product and data) in technology and tech-enabled industries. As the founding Head of Growth at Matic Insurance, he established the customer acquisition and initial expansion strategy, resulting in significant growth in company revenues and headcount and leading to 2 additional funding rounds of increasing valuation. In addition to previously serving as GTM-lead at Meta (a.k.a. Facebook), Alvin most recently led Marketing and Growth at database technology vendor Vaticle, where he successfully implemented a PLG GTM strategy targeting tenured software engineers.

Alessandro Tocco

Chief Compliance Officer

Alessandro (CAMS, BBA) leverages over 13 years of regulatory compliance, investigations, and AML expertise. He spearheaded Binance Canada's AML/ATF compliance program, creating comprehensive ML/TF risk controls and initiating a transaction monitoring program aligned with FINTRAC and FATF guidelines. In addition to overseeing the Trade Surveillance program at Bank of America and serving as an investigator at the Alberta Securities Commission, Alessandro also served as Deputy MLRO at Irish Progressive Services International Limited, where he collaborated closely on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing matters.

Sheldon Bennett

Sheldon (MBA, CFE, BA) has over 20 years of management experience leading international companies, including PwC, Ernst & Young, Baker & McKenzie, and Cisco Systems before founding DMG Blockchain Solutions. Sheldon is the Chief Executive Officer for DMG. Sheldon was responsible for developing industrial BTC mining operations, including government relations, power optimization with Canadian utilities. He has developed DMG’s new Core+ strategy to build out multiple revenue-generating software solutions for cryptocurrency adoption for financial institutions. From his previous experience in the Big 4, he launched two Environment and Sustainability practices as well as working on the audit of many ESG reports.

Nevin Markwart

Nevin (CFA, CFP, MBA, MS-Cyber) is a seasoned investment and cybersecurity professional and serves as Chief Information Security Officer for Future Vault, responsible for all aspects of the firm’s cybersecurity and information security programs.Prior to his business career, Nevin played nine seasons in the NHL, having been drafted in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins in 1983. After his hockey career, Nevin pursued a career in investment management and previously led two Canadian mutual fund companies as CEO:  Calgary-based Canoe Financial and Toronto-based Front Street Capital. Nevin’s investment industry experience includes senior and executive roles as equity analyst and portfolio manager, director of research, product manager, and, notably, head of Canadian equities for firms including Wellington Management and Fidelity Investments.  Nevin is a member of the Board of Directors of the Saskatchewan CFA Society.

John Place

John (JD, BA-Econ) was previously a corporate lawyer (called to the Ontario Bar in 2001) and practiced law internationally and in Ontario prior to joining Export Development Canada, a federal Crown corporation, in 2010, where he has held a number of leadership roles and currently serves as Director, Compliance and Ethics. John is also an independent director of DMG Blockchain Solutions Inc. and has held a number of board positions with not-for-profit entities.

Matt Torigian

Matt Torigian (MPA, BA-PolSci) is an international leader in policing and security with a 39-year career involving all aspects of community safety, having served as Ontario’s Deputy Solicitor General and as chief of police for the Waterloo Regional Police Service. Matt currently serves as a Distinguished Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto and, additionally, as the Chief Strategy Officer of Public Safety for Niche Technology. He is also designated as a Subject Matter Expert in policing by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, providing strategic advice and independent reviews for governments, police services, and private technology-based companies.Matt is a published author and was invested as an Officer of the Order of Merit of Police Forces in 2012; in 2014, he was presented the President’s Award from the Ontario Women in Law Enforcement (OWLE) for championing women in policing.

Caroline Troy

Caroline (MBA, CBV, BA-Econ) has over 20 years of experience in the Canadian capital markets at well-known North American full-service and boutique investment dealers. She has substantial expertise in the valuation industry through her involvement in numerous mergers and acquisitions, valuation and fairness opinion assignments, and financings. During her career, Caroline has completed valuations and fairness opinions for public and private companies ranging in value from under $3.0 million to over $1.0 billion. She has provided corporate business advisory services to both public and private companies for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, expansion plans, financings and debt restructurings and reorganizations. Caroline has prepared business valuation reports for litigation and has been qualified as an expert witness in the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta.
